Day Master
Geng Metal is the yang polarity of Metal. Your Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of your day pillar — the character in your chart that stands for you, and the reference point every other character in the chart is measured against.
| Element | Metal |
|---|---|
| Polarity | Yang |
| Stem | 庚 · Geng |
| Position in the ten stems | 7 of 10 |
Each of the ten stems stands in one fixed relationship to yours. That relationship is the stem’s Ten God, and it is what the reading is built on — the same rule the reports use.
| Stem | Element | Ten God | Leading Role name |
|---|---|---|---|
| 甲 Jia | Yang Wood | Indirect Wealth | The Entrepreneur |
| 乙 Yi | Yin Wood | Direct Wealth | The Provider |
| 丙 Bing | Yang Fire | Seven Killings | The Vanguard |
| 丁 Ding | Yin Fire | Direct Officer | The Statesman |
| 戊 Wu | Yang Earth | Indirect Resource | The Visionary |
| 己 Ji | Yin Earth | Direct Resource | The Scholar |
| 庚 Geng | Yang Metal | Friend | The Independent |
| 辛 Xin | Yin Metal | Rob Wealth | The Kingmaker |
| 壬 Ren | Yang Water | Eating God | The Creator |
| 癸 Gui | Yin Water | Hurting Officer | The Maverick |
Every Earthly Branch hides one to three stems. Those hidden stems are read against your Day Master in exactly the same way, which is how a branch comes to carry a Ten God.

|---|---|---|

Six of the sixty pillars carry this stem.
Your Day Master comes from the day you were born, not the year, and it needs the correct date and place to compute. It is not the same as your Chinese zodiac animal, which comes from the year.
