Pillar 57 of 60
Geng Shen pairs the yang Metal stem Geng with the Metal branch Monkey. A pillar can sit in any of the four positions of a chart — year, month, day or hour — and what it means depends on which.
| Stem | Geng Metal 庚 · Yang |
|---|---|
| Branch | Monkey 申 · Metal |
| Direction | Southwest |
| Hours | 3–5pm |
Read as a day pillar, Geng is the Day Master and the stems hidden in Monkey become its Ten Gods.
| Hidden stem | Element | Ten God to Geng |
|---|---|---|
| 庚 Geng | Yang Metal | Friend · The Independent |
| 壬 Ren | Yang Water | Eating God · The Creator |
| 戊 Wu | Yang Earth | Indirect Resource · The Visionary |
| Branch clash | Tiger |
|---|---|
| Six combination | Snake — to Water |
| Trine | Monkey, Rat, Dragon — Water |
A year pillar is only one of four. Your day pillar — the one that carries your Day Master — needs your birth date, and the hour pillar needs your birth time.
