Pillar 37 of 60
Geng Zi pairs the yang Metal stem Geng with the Water branch Rat. A pillar can sit in any of the four positions of a chart — year, month, day or hour — and what it means depends on which.
| Stem | Geng Metal 庚 · Yang |
|---|---|
| Branch | Rat 子 · Water |
| Direction | North |
| Hours | 11pm–1am |
Read as a day pillar, Geng is the Day Master and the stems hidden in Rat become its Ten Gods.
| Hidden stem | Element | Ten God to Geng |
|---|---|---|
| 癸 Gui | Yin Water | Hurting Officer · The Maverick |
| Branch clash | Horse |
|---|---|
| Six combination | Ox — to Earth |
| Trine | Monkey, Rat, Dragon — Water |
A year pillar is only one of four. Your day pillar — the one that carries your Day Master — needs your birth date, and the hour pillar needs your birth time.
