Day Master
Ji Earth is the yin polarity of Earth. Your Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of your day pillar — the character in your chart that stands for you, and the reference point every other character in the chart is measured against.
| Element | Earth |
|---|---|
| Polarity | Yin |
| Stem | 己 · Ji |
| Position in the ten stems | 6 of 10 |
Each of the ten stems stands in one fixed relationship to yours. That relationship is the stem’s Ten God, and it is what the reading is built on — the same rule the reports use.
| Stem | Element | Ten God | Leading Role name |
|---|---|---|---|
| 甲 Jia | Yang Wood | Direct Officer | The Statesman |
| 乙 Yi | Yin Wood | Seven Killings | The Vanguard |
| 丙 Bing | Yang Fire | Direct Resource | The Scholar |
| 丁 Ding | Yin Fire | Indirect Resource | The Visionary |
| 戊 Wu | Yang Earth | Rob Wealth | The Kingmaker |
| 己 Ji | Yin Earth | Friend | The Independent |
| 庚 Geng | Yang Metal | Hurting Officer | The Maverick |
| 辛 Xin | Yin Metal | Eating God | The Creator |
| 壬 Ren | Yang Water | Direct Wealth | The Provider |
| 癸 Gui | Yin Water | Indirect Wealth | The Entrepreneur |
Every Earthly Branch hides one to three stems. Those hidden stems are read against your Day Master in exactly the same way, which is how a branch comes to carry a Ten God.

Your Day Master comes from the day you were born, not the year, and it needs the correct date and place to compute. It is not the same as your Chinese zodiac animal, which comes from the year.
