Day Master
Wu Earth is the yang polarity of Earth. Your Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of your day pillar — the character in your chart that stands for you, and the reference point every other character in the chart is measured against.
| Element | Earth |
|---|---|
| Polarity | Yang |
| Stem | 戊 · Wu |
| Position in the ten stems | 5 of 10 |
Each of the ten stems stands in one fixed relationship to yours. That relationship is the stem’s Ten God, and it is what the reading is built on — the same rule the reports use.
| Stem | Element | Ten God | Leading Role name |
|---|---|---|---|
| 甲 Jia | Yang Wood | Seven Killings | The Vanguard |
| 乙 Yi | Yin Wood | Direct Officer | The Statesman |
| 丙 Bing | Yang Fire | Indirect Resource | The Visionary |
| 丁 Ding | Yin Fire | Direct Resource | The Scholar |
| 戊 Wu | Yang Earth | Friend | The Independent |
| 己 Ji | Yin Earth | Rob Wealth | The Kingmaker |
| 庚 Geng | Yang Metal | Eating God | The Creator |
| 辛 Xin | Yin Metal | Hurting Officer | The Maverick |
| 壬 Ren | Yang Water | Indirect Wealth | The Entrepreneur |
| 癸 Gui | Yin Water | Direct Wealth | The Provider |
Every Earthly Branch hides one to three stems. Those hidden stems are read against your Day Master in exactly the same way, which is how a branch comes to carry a Ten God.

Your Day Master comes from the day you were born, not the year, and it needs the correct date and place to compute. It is not the same as your Chinese zodiac animal, which comes from the year.
