Pillar 1 of 60
Jia Zi pairs the yang Wood stem Jia with the Water branch Rat. A pillar can sit in any of the four positions of a chart — year, month, day or hour — and what it means depends on which.
Read as a day pillar, Jia is the Day Master and the stems hidden in Rat become its Ten Gods.
| Hidden stem | Element | Ten God to Jia |
|---|---|---|
| 癸 Gui | Yin Water | Direct Resource · The Scholar |
| Branch clash | Horse |
|---|---|
| Six combination | Ox — to Earth |
| Trine | Monkey, Rat, Dragon — Water |
A year pillar is only one of four. Your day pillar — the one that carries your Day Master — needs your birth date, and the hour pillar needs your birth time.
